This brings back fond memories of climbing up the cherry tree on our farm in Iowa and seeing who could eat more, the birds or us. If we didn’t it them, we knew the birds would.

In the end, we got over three gallons of pitted cherries, all packaged in 4 quart bags and safe in the deep freeze. Nothing beats a summer treat as a cherry/lemonade smoothie!

I loved this blog, Gail! It made me giggle and marvel and rejoice! Honestly, I'm embarrassed but eager to admit that I had never thought about where cherries come from. I know about ornamental cherry trees, but the eatable version were somehow stuck in a state of cognitive dissonance. Cherries come from the super market. Thanks for setting me straight about cherries. I'm crazy about them. Enjoy!

In the end, we picked several gallons, which are mostly in the freezer now. I found that trying to dehydrate cherries took far too long. I'm glad you giggled! The cherry picking is kind of fun, since it's up in the leaves and between the branches. But, it also makes me happy we only have two cherry trees!
